Have you ever thought about becoming a police officer? The Kennebunkport Police Department is looking for motivated, community-minded people interested in starting a career in law enforcement. You don't need to be a certified police officer to apply.
We are looking for people with good judgment, integrity, strong communication skills, and a genuine interest in serving others. Your previous career does not have to be in law enforcement. Experience in the military, EMS, corrections, public service, education, customer service, the trades, athletics, or other fields may provide exactly the skills we are looking for.

- Starting pay up to $39.77/hour upon qualification as a Police Officer
- Four 10-hour shifts — three days off each week
- 20-year/no-age MainePERS retirement
- $2.00 - $4.00/hour evening/night-shift differential

Selected candidates who are not yet certified will be guided through the requirements necessary to become a Maine law-enforcement officer, including the Maine Criminal Justice Academy process.

Minimum Qualifications
- Be at least 21 years of age
- Possess a high school diploma or GED
- Have or be eligible to obtain a valid Maine driver's license · Meet Maine Criminal Justice Academy eligibility requirements
- Successfully complete the Town's selection and background process
The selection process includes an oral interview, a thorough background investigation, physical agility testing, a medical examination, drug screening, a psychological examination, and other required testing.
