Support Services Supervisor: Full-time; 37.5 hours per week, benefited

ABOUT THE ROLE: The Salem Police Department is seeking a highly organized and dependable professional to serve in a supervisory role overseeing the Department’s Records, Prosecution, and Investigative Services functions. This position is responsible for ensuring accurate and secure records management, supporting department operations, supervising staff, and maintaining compliance with applicable state laws, regulations, and department policies.
Accountability: Reports directly to the Support Services Division Commander (Administrative Lieutenant) and is accountable to the Operations Support Bureau Commander (Captain) and the Chief of Police.
WHAT YOU’LL DO: (below is a summary, please see job description for full details.)
- Oversees the establishment and maintenance of files on department activities in both hard copy and electronic mediums.
- Responds to inquiries from the public, other police agencies, the courts, lawyers, etc.
- Processes requests for documents, reports, records from various sources in accordance with department rules and regulations.
- Coordinates the processing of all incoming police reports to include review for accuracy, computer input, and internal distribution as required.
- Prepares payroll and other related activities including maintenance of attendance records, daily rosters, and other related records.
- Issues work assignments to support services personnel, oversees progress of those assignments, and assists in meeting deadlines.
- Evaluates performance of subordinates, takes corrective action as needed, counsels, trains and guides personnel where required, documents all actions taken in the personnel management area.
- Establishes and maintains NIBRS compliance with the State of New Hampshire. Performs other duties as assigned.
- Assists other units and divisions of the agency with processing time sensitive records (e.g., pistol permits).

- Graduate of high school or an equivalent combination of education and experience. AA degree or course work in a business-related field preferred.
- Skills in computer database management preferred.
- Demonstrated organizational and oral/written communication skills, and personnel management skills.
- Experience in a customer-oriented or municipal setting preferred.
- Employee required to attend specialized training programs particular to the position.
- Must be a positive team player who consistently exhibits a professional and courteous manner.
