Library Assistant, Youth Services - Minot-Sleeper Library

The Minot-Sleeper Library has an immediate opening for a creative, engaging and energetic Youth Services Assistant in our children’s department! About Bristol:
The Minot-Sleeper Library serves Bristol, New Hampshire’s population of approximately 3,100 year-round residents and up to 10,000 people in the summer with visitors to Newfound Lakeand is committed to providing resources that fulfill the needs of the Newfound area community.
Duties:
- Plan and deliver regularly scheduled story times andprograms for toddlers and preschoolers.
- Plan and host regularly-scheduled events for middle and high schoolers.
- Support youth services organization by preparing crafts, designing displays, and maintaining children’s and teen areas.
- Assist in school and community outreach.
- Provide exemplary customer service at all times.
- Assist patrons of all ages with reference and readers’ advisory.
- Assist with collection development for children’s and young adult materials.
- Maintain strong verbal/written communication and work effectively as part of a team.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree and some library experience preferred.
- An equivalent combination of education and experience which demonstrates the required knowledge, skills and abilities needed in this role, will be considered.
- Demonstrated experience working with children of all ages.
- Excellent organizational skills.
- Knowledge of children’s literature.
- Solid computer skills, library ILS system experience preferred.
- Ability to work independently.
- Knowledge of public library policies and procedures.
- Knowledge of integrated library systems preferred.
Salary & Schedule:
- This is a part-time, set schedule of 20-24 hrs./wk.
- Includes one evening and one Saturday per month on rotation. Some schedule flexibility possible based on library programming needs.
- $19-23/hr. dependent on experience
Other:
- Clean New Hampshire State Criminal Background Check and fingerprinting required.
