The New Hampshire Municipal Association (NHMA) announces a leadership transition following the departure of Executive Director Margaret Byrnes and the appointment of Sarah Burke Cohen as Interim Executive Director.
The NHMA Board of Directors and staff extend their sincere gratitude to Margaret Byrnes for her outstanding leadership, dedication, and service to the Association and New Hampshire's municipalities. Throughout her tenure, Byrnes strengthened NHMA's role as the statewide advocate for local government, enhanced member services, and fostered strong relationships with municipal officials and partners across the state. Her contributions have helped position the Association for continued success, and NHMA wishes her every success in her future endeavors.
Sarah Burke Cohen is an attorney and currently serves as a Legislative Advocate for NHMA. She has been appointed by the Board of Directors to serve as Interim Executive Director while NHMA conducts a national search for its next Executive Director. The Board of Directors launched its national search for Executive Director earlier this month, and applications are currently being accepted.
