Welfare Clerk/Administrative Assistant

Part-Time up to 30 Hours a Week

The Town of Boscawen is seeking a detail-oriented, initiative-taking team player able to work within a diversified environment. 

Professional appearance and phone etiquette with excellent communication skills working with the public and coworkers required. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, word processing, data management, and general computer applications is preferred.

The Administrative Assistant assists the Tax Collector in response to public inquiries over the telephone, in person and/or in writing as to the status of taxes and tax rates and valuation. Checks records for banks, realtors, and lawyers. Assists the Tax Collector in maintaining records of current addresses and property transfers. Collects and records fees and prepares bank deposits. Assists with arrangements for municipal, State, and national elections.

The Welfare Clerk directs the administration of local public welfare programs under the requirements of NH RSA 165. Performs applicant intake through interview and review of applications for assistance. Provides a variety of routine and complex administrative, technical, and clerical work in the administration of the local welfare program. Exercises discretion and independent judgment with respect to assigned administrative functions.

Ideal candidates should have a minimum of a high school diploma with a combination of education and two years office experience. 

Starting Hourly Pay:

Up to $23.00
