The City of Portsmouth is seeking a knowledgeable and creative Horticulturalist to lead the planning, design, and maintenance of our vibrant Prescott Park and other landscapes and flower beds throughout the City. This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate professional to make a visible impact on community spaces by enhancing the beauty, sustainability, and ecological health of our gardens and green areas.
Starting salary range: $71,195.20 - $86,538.21 a year per the Professional Management Association (PMA)
Hours: Full Time, 40 hours a week
Schedule: Monday-Friday: 7:30am-3:30pm
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
A candidate for this position should have a Bachelor’s Degree in Horticulture or a related field and three (3) years of professional horticultural experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Prior experience in cultural programming is required.
Landscape Architect, Master Gardner Certification, or other combination of education and experience to meet requirements. Additional licenses and/or certifications may be required.
An incumbent must possess a valid driver’s license and have no offenses which would prohibit or restrict insurability by an insurance carrier providing coverage to the City.
