The City of Portsmouth is seeking a dedicated and hardworking Utility Mechanic- Tree Maintenance Worker to support the maintenance and care of our urban tree canopy. This hands-on role is ideal for individuals who enjoy outdoor work, value teamwork, and take pride in enhancing the natural environment.
Starting pay rate: $24.58 - $27.10 an hour per the 1386A Salary Schedule
Hours: Full Time, 40 hours per week
Schedule: Monday-Friday: 7:30am-3:30pm
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants for this position must have graduated from high school or have earned a graduate equivalent diploma (GED). A minimum of two (2) years of experience in urban forestry is required.
Incumbent is required to possess the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) Certified Arborist certification or the ability to obtain the Arborist Certification within one (1) year of hire.
Incumbent must possess, or obtain in 12 months, a valid Commercial Driver’s License, Class B, and have no offenses which would prohibit or restrict insurability by any insurance carrier providing coverage to the City.
