This position plays a vital role in supporting employees, leaders, and applicants while ensuring efficient and professional HR operations.
Starting salary range: $67,805.07 - $82,417.48 a year per the non-union salary schedule
Hours: Full Time, 37.5 hours a week
Schedule: Monday: 8am-6pm, Tuesday-Thursday: 8am-4:30pm, Friday: 8am-1pm

NATURE OF WORK
The Human Resources Generalist provides comprehensive administrative, operational, and programmatic support to the Human Resources Department. This position serves as the primary greeter and initial point of contact for employees, applicants, officials, and visitors, representing the department in a professional, knowledgeable, and service-oriented manner.
The HR Generalist supports the Human Resources Director in day-to-day department operations and plays a key role in classification and compensation administration, including processing step increases, promotions, and related personnel actions. The position is responsible for maintaining accurate and confidential records, managing personnel files, processing invoices, and supporting HR reporting and compliance efforts.
This role requires strong proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel, excellent organizational and communication skills, and the ability to identify opportunities to improve HR processes and workflows.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
The ideal candidate holds a Bachelors Degree in Human Resources or a related field, along with three to five (3–5) years of experience in a similar role. Experience working in the municipal sector and in a union environment is preferred but not required.
The candidate must possess a valid driver’s license and have no offenses that would prohibit or restrict insurability by any insurance carrier providing coverage to the City.
Ability to obtain additional certifications as required.
