POSITION: SEASONAL LABORER – DPW
PAY RATE: $18.00 / Hourly
SUMMARY:
The Town of Bedford Department of Public Works is seeking energetic, dependable, and positive minded individual(s) to fill the position(s) of Seasonal Laborers for our 2026 summer construction activities. This is up to a 40 hour / week position between May – August per day for up to 12 weeks.
TYPICAL DUTIES:
- General operational support of the Department of Public Works.
- Maintaining Cemeteries, Buildings, and Grounds.
- Assisting road construction crews with traffic control.
- Assisting with grades and repairs of roadway underlayment to prepare for patching or paving.
- Manually digs, rakes, sweeps, as well as general labor duties.
- May operate mowers, weed eaters, and other tools for the maintenance of right of ways, medians and common areas.
- Repairs or replaces landscaping disturbed during construction projects.
- Maintains a clean and safe work area
- Requires the projection of a positive attitude and image about the Town of Bedford, a pleasant demeanor and commitment to service the public.
- Cleans equipment and facilities.
- Performs other related duties as directed.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- Applicants should have a High School Diploma or equivalent, must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid NH Driver’s License, and be safety conscious
- Must be able to obtain a DOT Medical Card
- Knowledge of maintenance practices, ability to use hand-held/operated equipment such as mowers, power brooms, leaf blowers, and power tools
- Must have good communication skills and ability to work well within a team
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
