Director of Planning and Development: Town of Kennebunkport, Maine

This full-time, exempt position reports to the Town Manager and is responsible for directing the Town's land-use planning, code enforcement, and other related functions. The position requires proficiency in modern land use planning principles and practices; ordinance development and enforcement; personnel, project, and budget management; and significant analytical, communication, public presentation, and consensus-building skills. A successful candidate should understand municipal operations, be a fiscally responsible self-starter who can lead a team, and develop strong communication skills.

Bachelor’s Degree in a related field and a minimum of three to five years of progressively responsible professional experience in municipal planning, code enforcement, land use, and community development, including supervisory experience, is required, or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Applicant must possess a valid State of Maine driver’s license with no restrictions or points.

• Pay Rate – We ensure that our employees receive fair pay based on their skills and experience. Proposed pay range for the position is $105,000 to $130,000 (commensurate with experience).
