The Town of Hopkinton is seeking a dependable and skilled professional to join our Highway Department as a Heavy Equipment Operator. In this role, you will perform a variety of tasks involving manual labor, truck driving, and equipment operation that are essential to maintaining and improving the Town’s roads and infrastructure.
This position plays a critical role in ensuring safe and reliable roadways year-round, including during winter weather events and emergencies.
What We’re Looking For
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Sufficient experience to understand the basic principles relevant to the major duties of the position, usually associated with the completion of an apprenticeship/internship or having had a similar position for at least one to two years.
- Possession of, or ability to obtain, a valid CDL-B driver’s license in the State of New Hampshire
- Ability to safely operate equipment such as dump trucks, loaders, graders, and backhoes.
- Ability to follow safety procedures and maintain equipment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Additional Requirements
- Must be available for 24-hour on-call response, including nights, weekends, and holidays, to deal with weather events and emergencies.
- Subject to background check and DOT random drug testing.
