INVITATION TO BID
2026 Paving
The Town of Thornton is accepting bids for the following paving projects. A map describing the projects are available for pick up at the Thornton Town Hall during normal business hours or on the Town’s website www.townofthornton.org on the Highway Department page.
Bids shall be submitted as follows:
Project 1: Susie Ln
- Cost per ton to shim/overlay approximately 1,500 feet of road averaging 21 feet wide using a ½” inch wearing course that meets/exceeds NHDOT standards for quality compacted to 1.25” thick.
- Estimated average shim thickness of ½” for 500ft.
- Cost per ton shall include tack coat per NHDOT standards and 1 ground joints at intersection.
Project 2: Blackberry Ln
- Cost per ton to shim/overlay approximately 1,200 feet of road averaging 21 feet wide using a ½” inch wearing course that meets/exceeds NHDOT standards for quality compacted to 1.25” thick.
- Estimated average shim thickness of ½” for 600ft.
- Cost per ton shall include tack coat per NHDOT standards and 1 ground joint at intersection.
Project 3: Upper Highbrook Road
- Cost per ton to shim/overlay approximately 3300 feet of road averaging 21 feet wide using a ½” inch wearing course that meets/exceeds NHDOT standards for quality compacted to 1.25” thick.
- Estimated average shim thickness of ½” for 1700ft.
- Cost per ton shall include tack coat per NHDOT standards and 1 ground joint at intersection.
Project 4: Upper Mad River Road from Highbrook Road to Fondue
- Cost per ton to shim/overlay approximately 3,300 feet of road averaging 21 feet wide using a ½” inch wearing course that meets/exceeds NHDOT standards for quality compacted to 1.25” thick.
- Estimated average shim thickness of ½” for 1700ft.
- Cost per ton shall include tack coat per NHDOT standards and 2 ground joints.
Project 5: Town Municipal Buildings Binder Course:
- Cost per ton for ¾” binder course around new meeting hall compacted to 2”. This area is an estimated 2650 square yards.
- Cost to fine grade and compact new parking area shall also be listed separately.
Project 6: Town Municipal Buildings Wearing Course:
- Cost per ton to overlay approximately 4350SY of new and existing parking areas as well as roadway to NH Route 3 using a 3/8” inch wearing course that meets/exceeds NHDOT standards for quality compacted to 1.25” thick.
- Cost per ton shall include tack coat per NHDOT standards and one ground joint at the intersection of Route 3
The highway department will sweep all roads prior to paving. Traffic control to be provided by the contractor.
Scheduling details for estimated start/completion dates if awarded shall be noted in the bid as this may affect the Town’s decision.
Bids must be submitted in a sealed envelope and labeled “2026 Paving - Attention: Town Administrator” and mailed or delivered to 16 Merrill Access Road, Thornton, New Hampshire 03285.
All bids must be received at the Thornton Town Hall no later than 3:00PM on Monday, April 13, 2026.
The bids will be opened at the Thornton Town Hall on Tuesday, April 14, 2025 at 3:00PM.
The award process is scheduled for 4:30 PM at the Board of Selectmen’s meeting on April 15, 2026.
The Town reserves the right to reject any and all bids.
