Full-Time Police Officer

The Wakefield Police Department is now accepting applications for a full-time Police Officer position, offering an hourly wage of $26.40–$37.62.

Benefits include:
Health, dental, vision, and life insurance; extended sick leave; paid time off; and overnight shift differential pay. The Town of Wakefield also participates in the New Hampshire Retirement System (NHRS) pension program. Full-time officers work a four-on, three-off schedule. Tattoos and beards are permitted.

Minimum qualifications:
Applicants must have a high school diploma or equivalent, be at least 21 years old at the time of appointment, hold a valid driver’s license, be a U.S. citizen, maintain good physical condition, and demonstrate a strong ability and willingness to work with the public.

Selection process:
Candidates must successfully complete a Physical Agility Test, Oral Board Interview, Psychological Examination, Medical Screening, Drug Screening, and an interview with the Chief of Police. Non-certified applicants must attend the full-time New Hampshire Police Academy upon hire and obtain full-time officer certification.
