FULL TIME POSITION
The Town of Deerfield seeks a full time Highway Dept Employee. Must be a minimum of 18 years old and have reliable transportation to the Town Highway Shed. Applicant must have a valid Driver’s License with CDL Endorsement Preferred.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repair of town roads and right of ways
- Operate town vehicles and heavy equipment, including trucks and road maintenance equip
- Assist with snow removal, storm response, and other emergency operations, which may require extended hours and on-call availability
- Conduct inspections and basic maintenance of tools, vehicles, and equipment
- Apply knowledge of work hazards and appropriate safety practices
- Perform physically demanding work under adverse weather conditions
- Respond to emergency repairs involving equipment, roads, or municipal facilities
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the general public
- Perform skilled or semi-skilled trade work as needed (e.g., carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical tasks)
- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Road Agent
The position is for full time 40 hours per week with a 4-day work week (Mon-Thurs 7-5). Overtime for all after hours or on call work and overtime during plow season. Position includes full benefits, paid vacation time, 457, and NH Retirement. Applicants must pass background checks and testing including criminal, motor vehicle, physical and drug/alcohol (for CDL Applicants)
Pay rate: $23 to $28 Per Hour Based on Experience and License Type
