Town of Campton – Highway Department Foreman

The Town of Campton is seeking a skilled and motivated Highway Department Foreman to lead and coordinate the daily operations of our Highway Department. This position plays a key role in maintaining the safety and efficiency of town roads, bridges, drainage systems, and related infrastructure.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise and direct highway department staff in daily tasks and projects.
  • Plan, schedule, and oversee road maintenance, snow removal, grading, paving, and drainage improvements.
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment as needed.
  • Inspect roads and infrastructure for maintenance needs and safety hazards.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, state/local regulations, and environmental guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate records and assist with budget preparation.
  • Respond promptly to emergencies such as storms and road hazards.
  • Train and mentor staff on proper procedures and safety practices.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical training preferred).
  • 3–5 years of experience in highway maintenance or construction, including 1–2 years in a supervisory role.
  • Valid NH CDL Class B or higher required.
  • Knowledge of road construction techniques, equipment operation, and maintenance.
  • Ability to work in adverse weather conditions and lift up to 80 pounds.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills.

Salary

  • Commensurate with experience.
