The City of Portsmouth is seeking a reliable, customer-focused Parking Attendant/Security Officer to help ensure the safe, efficient, and proper use of the Hanover Garage in Downtown Portsmouth.
This position is full-time, 40 hours a week. Schedule is Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday: 2pm-10pm
Starting pay range is $19.32- $21.30 an hour per the AFSCME 1386A Working Agreement.

NATURE OF WORK
The purposes of this position are to assist in providing for the proper use, security and maintenance of the City's parking facilities and to collect parking fees. Facility supervision work includes taking a periodic inventory of available parking spaces, placing temporary direction signs to available parking, reminding motorists of proper parking requirements, providing visual facility security services, safeguarding, safety and security of assets, property, personnel, customers and all visitors, notifying the police of the need for their services, and posting the facility "full" as appropriate. The position performs light maintenance services when not required to be at an attendant's booth or other assigned facility supervisory location. Parking fees are collected from customers according to the City's fee schedule and identified procedures.
MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Applicants for this position must have graduated from high school or have a graduate equivalent diploma (GED), previous work experience which demonstrates the ability to work in a positive manner with customers, have a valid driver’s license, and have no offenses which would prohibit or restrict bonding by any carrier or agent providing coverage to the City.
