NOW HIRING: UTILITIES MAINTENANCE TECHNICIAN I
Union Position – Full-Time
The Town of Peterborough Public Works Department is accepting applications for the position of Utilities Maintenance Technician I to assist with the operation, maintenance, repair, and inspection of the Town’s water and wastewater systems.
Position Details
- Classification: Regular, Full-Time, Non-Exempt
- Pay Grade: Union – Grade 2 ($21.80-$32.70)
- Reports To: Utilities Superintendent
- Work Schedule: Normally 40 hours per week. Work hours may include nights, weekends, overtime, and rotating on-call assignments, consistent with operational needs.
Position Summary
Under the general supervision of the Utilities Superintendent, this position performs a variety of skilled and semi-skilled duties related to municipal water and wastewater systems. The position includes participation in winter operations, a rotating on-call schedule, and emergency response outside of normal working hours.
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum of two (2) years of relevant experience
- Possession of, or ability to obtain within 90 days, NH DES Grade I Water Treatment and Distribution and Wastewater Certification
- Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
- Possession of, or ability to obtain within a reasonable time, a CDL Class B with tanker endorsement
- Ability to perform physically demanding work in all weather conditions
- Ability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule (approximately seven days every four to five weeks)
