POSITION:
Utility Customer Service & Billing Clerk – Public Works
SCHEDULE:
Monday through Friday, 7AM to 4 PM
PAY RATE:
$22.61 to $25.05 per hour, depending on experience.
DUTIES:
Under general supervision of the DPW Director, the Utility Customer Service & Billing Clerk is responsible for calculating, verifying, posting and balancing a variety of financial transactions for various aspects of the Town’s accounting and financial management systems as related to Water/Wastewater. Essential functions include, but are not limited to, establishing and maintaining water and sewer customer account records; entering and maintaining financial information related to water and sewer billings; adjusting bills as required, and generating overdue account notices. The Utility Customer Service & Billing Clerk also generates and maintains service orders for field personnel and responds to a variety of citizen inquiries and complaints, in person and by email and telephone; researches information concerning the inquiry/complaint; and provides explanation or recommendation for bill adjustments as appropriate.
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates for this position must have:
- Overall knowledge of financial record keeping and utility billing functions equivalent to completion of a high school and one to three years of related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Knowledge of computer software programs and applications for financial management including Excel, Word, and Crystal Reports. MUNIS financial software experience is highly desirable.
- Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and to deal tactfully with office personnel, other Town employees and the general public to convey concise and accurate explanations of policies, procedures and requirements.
