Join NHMA for this year's Moderator's Workshop on January 10th for SB2 towns and February 21st for Traditional Town Meeting towns. This year's workshop will again be held entirely virtually, via Zoom, to allow us to provide separate sessions for beginner and advanced moderators. The beginner session will focus on all of the basics for new moderators getting ready for their first town meeting or for those who want a refresher on the fundamentals of moderating a town meeting. We will spend a little more time focusing on the fundamental RSA’s and best practices, with more time worked in for questions. The advanced session will contain an overview of the basics, but with specific content geared towards moderators who have handled one or more town meetings in the past.
We will also be hosting a panel discussion involving moderators from several different municipalities, as well as Attorney Jonathan Cowal and Attorney Christine Johnston from NHMA. This panel discussion will focus on answering questions from the attendees, providing some valuable insight on some hypothetical scenarios and sharing some stories of past unique town meeting experiences.
Attendees will receive an electronic copy of NHMA's 2026-2027 edition of the Town Meeting and School Meeting Handbook . Additional materials such as the PowerPoint presentation will also be distributed electronically. No print outs of the materials or hard copy of the publication will be provided.
Pre-registration and payment is required. Registration is available until 5:00 pm on January 8, 2026. Registrations after this time cannot be guaranteed. You will be billed according to the pricing on the options you select at registration. If you wish to make changes, NHMA must be notified in writing at least 48 hours in advance. Refund of the full registration fee will be made if cancellation notification is received 48 hours in advance. Cancellation less than 48 hours in advance, including no-shows, will result in you being charged the full cost of the workshop. If you register but cannot attend, a recording of the workshop will be provided if payment has been received.
