This webinar will benefit not only new ZBA members, but also governing bodies, and other land use boards who want to better understand the different roles and responsibilities of various municipal officials in these positions. 

As a new volunteer member of your local Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA), you may not know where to start to learn about your new responsibilities. That's why NHMA is hosting a webinar designed specifically for new board members including a basic overview of the organization, powers, duties, and relevant statutory and case law authority to make your public service both more enjoyable and productive. 

Join Legal Services Counsel Stephen Buckley and Municipal Services Counsel Jonathan Cowal who will discuss how to keep your board's affairs in order (including rules of procedure), the do's and don'ts for conducting meetings and hearings, your board's issuance of decisions, and its rehearing procedures, as well as understanding the role of the ZBA through the granting of relief from the strict terms of the zoning ordinance through variances, and how the handle special exceptions and administrative appeals.

NHMA Members/Associate Members/State Agencies you must be logged in to receive complimentary registration. If you register but cannot attend, a recording of the webinar will be provided.  Non-Members who register but cannot attend will receive a copy of the recording as long as payment has been received.  Registration is available until 5:00 pm on June 17, 2025. Registrations after this time cannot be guaranteed. You will receive email confirmation from registrations@nhmunicipal.org providing you with webinar access information.  You cannot cancel if you have signed up to attend a webinar.
