Welfare Official

The Town of Farmington is searching for a part-time Welfare Official. 

The Town of Farmington’s Welfare Official is responsible for the coordination of all municipal welfare activities, including direct assistance, case management, determination of eligibility, and advocacy for clients established by statute and local guidelines.

Essential Duties

  • Interviews welfare applicants, according to State and Town Welfare laws, ordinances, and regulations, to determine the nature and degree of need and eligibility for public assistance
  • Provides information and refers clients to other agencies, community resources, and other organizations
  • Counsel applicants and perform casework investigations as needed
  • Performs collections duties; requests repayment from individuals and other agencies; places liens on property.
  • Maintains complete and accurate records, files, and documentation of all assistance provided.
  • Maintains working relationships with other organizations such as CAP, DHHS, Homeless Shelters, and the like.
