Job Title: Maintenance, Driver & Equipment Operator

Position Overview
The Town of Warner is seeking a full-time Driver & Equipment Operator to support the Public Works Department. This is a 40-hour per week, benefited position reporting to the Public Works Supervisor. The successful candidate will assist with road and facility maintenance, equipment operation, and emergency response activities, while maintaining a strong focus on safety, teamwork, and service to the public.
Starting pay is dependent upon experience and education.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform routine and emergency maintenance and repair of town roads, buildings, and related infrastructure
- Operate town vehicles and heavy equipment, including trucks and road maintenance machinery
- Assist with snow removal, storm response, and other emergency operations, which may require extended hours and on-call availability
- Conduct inspections and basic maintenance of tools, vehicles, and equipment
- Apply knowledge of work hazards and appropriate safety practices
- Perform physically demanding work under adverse weather conditions
- Respond to emergency repairs involving equipment, roads, or municipal facilities
- Communicate effectively with supervisors, coworkers, and the general public
- Perform skilled or semi-skilled trade work as needed (e.g., carpentry, electrical, plumbing, or mechanical tasks)
- Carry out other related duties as assigned by the Public Works Supervisor
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or GED required
- Vocational or technical training in building, road, or facilities maintenance preferred
- A minimum of four (4) years of experience in maintenance or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Experience operating machinery and heavy equipment preferred
- Willingness and ability to learn new tasks and equipment
Licenses and Certifications
- Valid New Hampshire driver’s license required
- New Hampshire Commercial Driver’s License (CDL B) for the type of vehicles or equipment operated
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Knowledge of maintenance methods, tools, and equipment used in public works operations
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong work ethic and commitment to safety
- Ability to perform strenuous physical labor
Physical and Work Environment
- Frequent physical activity including lifting over 50 lbs.bending, climbing, and working outdoors
- Exposure to varying weather conditions and potentially hazardous work environments
- Availability for emergency response, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed
