Transfer Station Attendant

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $22 per hour, Additional $1 per hour raise after 90-day probation period

This position assists the Transfer Station Manager in the operation and maintenance of the Solid Waste Transfer Station/Recycling Center and its associated equipment.

JOB SUMMARY: This position assists the Transfer Station Manager in the operation and maintenance of the Solid Waste Transfer Station/Recycling Center and its associated equipment.

SUPERVISION RECEIVED: Works under the general supervision of the Transfer Station Manager.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Assist the public with the unloading of solid waste and recyclables from their vehicles and loading materials into the packer and/or appropriate recycle bin.
• Direct the public in the proper disposition of recyclables.
• Operate baling equipment and bale plastic, aluminum and other recyclables.
• Assist manager in the enforcement of recycling and solid waste regulations.
• Other functions and activities as determined by Manager

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

• State of NH D.E.S. Solid Waste Operator Certification (or the ability to successfully complete D.E.S. training program and obtain certification).
• Physically able to lift 75 lbs
• Clear and polite verbal communication skills, comfortable with public interaction.
• Ability to safely operate equipment including hydraulic packer truck, baler, skid-steer, etc.
