The Town of Chester is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Town Planner. The Town Planner serves as the Town’s professional planning official responsible for administering land use regulations, managing development review processes, and advancing the community’s long range planning goals. The Town Planner provides technical and policy guidance to Town boards, staff, elected officials, and the public to support orderly growth, environmental stewardship, and high-quality development.
The ideal candidate will have:
- Bachelor’s degree in urban or regional planning, public administration, or a related field.
- Strong knowledge of municipal planning principles and practices
- Working knowledge of New Hampshire land use law and regional planning practices.
- At least three years of progressively responsible experience in municipal planning.
- A valid driver's license.
Salary and Benefits: This is a full-time position. The starting salary range is $66,935 - $82,908. The actual offer will be based on skills, qualifications, and experience. We offer a competitive benefits package which includes New Hampshire Retirement System, Health Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Short-Term Disability among others.
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday from 8:00am to 4:00pm. Additional evening hours are required to attend Planning Board meetings and other meetings or complete assignments as needed.
