We are seeking qualified applicants for the position of Town Planner. This full-time position provides professional, technical, and administrative support to the Planning Board in all matters brought before the Board and plays a key role in the development and implementation of the Town's Master Plan to promote the orderly growth and development of Hooksett.

The Town Planner serves as the Town's primary professional responsible for land use planning and development review. This position provides knowledgeable leadership and guidance to the Planning Board by administering land use regulations, coordinating development reviews, and implementing efficient, thorough, and transparent review processes that strengthen the Board's deliberations and decision-making.

The successful candidate will work collaboratively with the Code Enforcement Officer, Assessor, Fire inspector, Town Engineer, Wastewater Department, Water Precincts and State Departments (NHDOT, NHDES, etc.) in carrying out these duties. 

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Bachelor's degree in Municipal Planning, Community Development, Public Administration, or a closely related field; a Master's degree is preferred.
  • Certification as a member of the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP), or the ability to obtain certification within five (5) years of employment.
  • A valid driver's license.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of progressively responsible municipal planning experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
  • Experience with Geographic Information Systems (GIS); proficiency with GIS applications is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of economic development principles and practices is preferred.

Full-time salary exempt position. Salary range up to $105,000 based on qualifications. Teamsters Local 633 Mid-Management position. IMPRESSIVE BENEFITS PACKAGE to include but no limited to:

Work Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday: 8:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; Wednesday: 8:00 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.; Friday: 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Additional evening hours are required to attend Planning Board meetings and other meetings or complete assignments as needed.
