The Town of Bethel, Vermont (pop. 2,022), seeks an engaging, collaborative, and dynamic Town Manager. Bethel comprises several historic villages located along the White River and its tributaries. It was the first town created by the independent Republic of Vermont in 1779 and Bethel is located near the Upper Valley and the Capital Region.
The Manager reports to a five-member Select Board and is responsible for the daily operations of the Town. He or she administers approximately $3.2million in general operating and other funds, and oversees all personnel, financial, and community relations matters. The Manager also serves as the administrative officer and oversees the operations of a multi-town solid waste program, fire department, and water and sewer systems. Salary starting at $70,000, plus an excellent benefits package. A Bachelor’s degree is recommended in public administration, business administration, or a relevant field. Five years previous experience in municipal government and finance is preferred; experience as a town manager is a plus.
