Town Administrator

The Town of Waitsfield, Vermont (pop. 1844) seeks a collaborative and creative professional full-time Town Administrator.  The Town has a combined budget of just under 2.7 million dollars and approximately eight municipal employees.  Waitsfield is a quintessential and picturesque New England community located in the heart of the Mad River Valley. This is a place where the local traditions of community, conservation, recreation, agriculture, commerce, and civic engagement continue to be valued.

The Town Administrator is appointed by the five-member Selectboard and acts as the Town’s principal staff member responsible for implementing the policy and programmatic directives established by the Selectboard. The Town Administrator additionally is responsible for the preparation of an annual budget for the Town in consultation with the Selectboard, including coordinating appropriate input from other Town departments, boards, and committees, and is responsible for its administration after adoption. They act as the Selectboard’s agent in the supervision of employees and act as the primary liaison between the public and the Selectboard.

A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree from an accredited college in business administration or public administration, or equivalent subjects along with three to six years of local government, planning, administration, or an equivalent combination of experience and training.  Salary range is $70,000-$80,000.
