Town Administrator

The Town of Bristol is accepting applications for the position of Town Administrator. Bristol is located in Mid Coast Maine, in Lincoln County, on the scenic Pemaquid Peninsula, approximately 60 miles north of Portland. It is comprised of the five charming villages of Bristol Mills, Round Pond, Chamberlain, New Harbor and Pemaquid. It is home to Pemaquid Point Lighthouse and the historical archaeological sites at Colonial Pemaquid and Fort William Henry. Bristol is a fishing, tourist, and retirement community with a rich tradition of community spirit and involvement.

Bristol has a year round population of 2,834 with a municipal budget of $3.8 million, and disburses a school budget of $7.8 million which is overseen by a separate elected School Board. It has 8 full time employees and 20 part time employees. Bristol has a Selectboard/Town Meeting form of government which includes a 3 member Selectboard elected with staggered terms.

The Selectboard is seeking candidates with a minimum of 5 years of demonstrated municipal management experience. Knowledge/experience in areas of budget/finance, grant writing and implementation, human resource, planning, policy management and project management are desired. Strong background and awareness of technology and its application in a municipal setting is desired. Superior supervisory and organizational skills, excellent written and oral communications, as well as excellent interpersonal skills, are required. Leadership with integrity, honesty, openness and humor combined with creative problem solving will be essential. The successful candidate is expected to become an active member of the community and residency in Bristol is desired but not mandatory.

Bachelor’s degree in Public Administration or a closely related field is desired. Salary range is $70,000 to $85,000 to be determined based on experience and qualifications.
