Road Agent

The Town of Bradford (pop 1,700) is seeking a Road Agent to oversee the Highway Department consisting of 3 full-time and 2 part-time employees. Bradford has approximately 50 miles of town maintained paved and unpaved roads.  The Road Agent has to lead a qualified team to maintain the Town’s infrastructure including roads, sidewalks, culverts, open spaces and Town facilities and ensure public safety.  The position requires knowledge in budgeting, procurement, scheduling, project management, training personnel, and overseeing contractors.  Understanding of state and federal laws, regulations, and safety requirements is a must.  In addition, the Road Agent is expected to perform laboring tasks, equipment operation and other tasks to support the team in achieving its objectives.  CDL-B Driver’s license is required as well as experience operating and maintaining heavy equipment. 

The successful candidate will have a minimum of five (5) years of demonstrated experience in a management or supervisory role and in managing construction projects.  Having the ability to work harmoniously with the team, other Town officials, and the public is critical. 

This is a full-time 40+ hour position.  Bradford offers a competitive benefits package.  Salary is dependent upon qualifications.  This position reports to the Select Board.
