POSITION:         RECREATION INTERN

                           Temporary Summer Help, Bedford Recreation Department
 

SALARY:            $20.00 - $22.00 per hour; Seasonal, part time – hours vary based on activities

 

SUMMARY:

The Town of Bedford Recreation Department is seeking a reliable, positive minded individual Recreation Intern for the 2026 summer season.  The Recreation Intern reports directly to the Recreation Manager and assists and participates in a variety of organized activities, special events and recreational programs, while gaining a well-rounded municipal recreation experience through issued responsibilities. Will also assist in the maintenance and daily operations of town pool, and recreational facilities. May be responsible for supervising children. Flexible seasonal schedule possibly requires working nights, weekends and/or holidays. 

TYPICAL DUTIES:

  • Responds to customer requests for information and assistance with registering for programs.
  • Assists with set up and break down of recreational activity. 
  • Provides participant supervision during group recreational activities. 
  • Participates fully in planning and implementation of recreational activities. 
  • Assist in upkeep of recreation facilities and recreation equipment. 
  • Assist with the development and distribution of program promotional material. 
  • Other duties as assigned. 

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Experience working with children in groups or as individuals, experience in using social media, highly motivated to learn and practice new skills, have a strong work ethic, maintain a positive attitude, be enthusiastic, self-motivated, willing to take on new challenges and experiences, and be adaptable to the many changes in the field of recreation. Good character, integrity, sense of humor, patience, and the ability to exercise self-control. CPR/First Aid Certification or ability to obtain within (1) month, declared major/minor within the parks, recreation, or leisure services, physical education or other related field of study or related degree, with an approved educational institution, excellent customer service skills, strong verbal and written communication skills, basic skills in planning and implementation of activities, ability to multitask and meet deadlines with attention to detail.
