Public Works Director
The Town of Newport is seeking an experienced and motivated professional to serve as its Public Works Director. This is a department-head position reporting directly to the Town Manager and responsible for the leadership and management of the Town’s Highway Division, Buildings and Grounds, and Town Garage.
The Public Works Director will plan, organize, and oversee the Town’s highway and infrastructure maintenance programs, municipal buildings and grounds, and vehicle and equipment fleet. Major responsibilities include road and bridge maintenance, drainage systems, winter snow and ice operations, municipal facility maintenance, fleet and equipment management, budgeting, capital planning, project management, purchasing and contracting, and supervision of departmental employees.
The Director will also develop long-term infrastructure and capital improvement plans, coordinate projects with engineers and contractors, administer bids and contracts, respond to resident concerns, and work closely with the Town Manager and other Town departments.
The position requires a strong, hands-on leader who can effectively manage employees and daily operations while also planning for the Town’s long-term infrastructure, facility, and equipment needs. Please send resume and cover letter to jobs@newportnh.gov.

Water, Sewer, and Wastewater Treatment operations are managed separately and are not under the supervision of the Public Works Director.
