About Police Department: The Kennebunkport Police Department is dedicated to serving and protecting the community with 14 sworn officers and 4 full-time dispatchers in our communications center. Job description: We are seeking a dynamic and experienced individual to serve as the next Police Chief of Kennebunkport. The Police Chief is responsible for leading, managing, and overseeing all aspects of the police department's operations, including law enforcement, community outreach, and administrative functions. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, a comprehensive understanding of law enforcement principles, and a commitment to fostering positive relationships within the community.

Key Responsibilities:
• Provide strategic leadership and direction to the police department in alignment with the town's goals and priorities.
• Oversee the development and implementation of departmental policies, procedures, and training programs to ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Manage departmental budgets, resources, and personnel effectively and efficiently.
• Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and integrity among department staff.
• Collaborate with local government officials, community organizations, and other stakeholders to address public safety concerns and promote community-oriented policing initiatives.
• Represent the police department in public forums, media interactions, and community events to enhance transparency and trust.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor's degree in criminal justice, public administration, or a related field.
• Minimum of ten years of progressively responsible law enforcement experience, including at least five years in a supervisory or command role.
• Certification as a law enforcement officer in the State of Maine or eligibility for certification through the Maine Criminal Justice Academy.
• Strong communication, interpersonal, and conflict resolution skills.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a diverse team of law enforcement professionals.
• Knowledge of modern policing practices, technology, and crime prevention strategies.
• Commitment to upholding ethical standards and fostering positive community relationships.
