Patrol Sergeant
The New Boston Police Department is currently seeking applicants to fill the position of Patrol Sergeant.
The New Boston Police Department has 12 sworn Officers who provide 24-hour coverage in the Town of approximately 6000 residents.
Interested candidates should have a minimum of 5 years of FULL TIME Law Enforcement experience and 60 college credits. Comparable Law Enforcement training or Military experience may be substituted for the college credits.
Interested candidates should also have experience as a Field Training Officer, Tactical Instructor, or other Supervisory experience which would demonstrate their ability to supervise.
Interested Candidates should have a strong desire to teach, coach, and mentor Officers within the organization.
In addition to the normal duties assigned to Patrol Officers, the Patrol Sergeant may also be assigned to:
- Review and Approve Police Reports
- Act as a Field Training Officer and provide oversight of the Department Field Training Program.
- Act as the Evidence/Property Control Officer
- Act as Prosecutor when the Department Prosecutor is away or on leave
- Provide annual evaluations for Patrol Officers
- Act as a tactical instructor in one the departments tactical disciplines (Firearm, Taser, OC, Baton, DT’s)
- Work on special projects as assigned by the Chief

The minimum starting salary, depending on qualifications, is $66,560.
The Police Department follows a “4 on – 3 off” 10-hour workday schedule and offers a competitive health and benefits package.
