POSITION: Mechanic
DEPARTMENT: Public Works
HOURS WORKED: 6:00am-2:00pm Monday to Friday,
(On Call as needed per department needs)
SALARY RANGE: $25-$32 Per Hour
Salary Dependent on experience and qualifications
PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Including but not limited to:
Provide skilled mechanical work in the repair and maintenance of gasoline and diesel engine powered vehicles and heavy equipment. Oversees program for vehicle and equipment maintenance and repair. Keeps electronic records of maintenance and repairs. Performs annual New Hampshire State inspections on town owned vehicles. Ability to make emergency repairs of equipment at job sites or equipment location. Weld and modify equipment and fabricate parts and devices as necessary or as directed. Participates in snow removal operations, when required. The successful candidate will be required to perform a wide variety of mechanical work ranging from routine maintenance to heavy equipment repairs on all Town owned vehicles. This position will also provide trades skill in the construction field periodically. Complete other duties as assigned by a supervisor. Physical requirements include the ability to shovel, lift, bend, walk, sit, or stand for long periods of time and carry objects weighing one hundred (100) pounds or more, as well as have the ability to work with a variety of cleaning, snow removal, lawn care and construction/maintenance related equipment.
Required to work under adverse conditions in all types of weather.
Operates snowplows, sanding equipment, and performs snow removal duties. On Call requirements and other related duties as assigned. Applicants should be motivated and able to work both by themselves and in a team setting. Ability to follow oral and written directions. Overtime required depending on department needs.
QUALIFICATIONS:
High School diploma or certified equivalent
Minimum 3+ years of relevant experience
Must have own tools
Must possess a valid Driver’s License
CDL-B with air brake endorsement license preferred.
NH Vehicle Inspection license
Employment is dependent on the ability to pass a drug and alcohol test, background check and DMV records report.
Have or obtain DOT physical card.
A combination of education and experience will be considered.
