Land Use Administrator – Job Description
The Land Use Administrator is responsible for overseeing and coordinating activities related to zoning, planning, and land development regulations within the municipality. The Administrator is solely obligated to the Planning Board and Zoning Board of Adjustment (ZBA) and shall assist the Chairman and the Board members in carryings out their responsibilities per the Town regulations and relevant provision of the NH RSA’s. He/She shall serve primarily as the office and documentation manager, recorder for board meetings and shall receive, verify and schedule applications and distribute information. The Administrator has no authority other than as directed by the Board.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
• Assist the Planning Board and ZBA by preparing meeting agendas, public notices, and minutes.
- Review applications for Planning Board and ZBA and development proposals for zoning compliance.
- Maintain official land use records, maps, and related documentation.
- Basic accounting and bookkeeping of land use accounts.
Qualifications and Skills
- Enthusiasm for municipal planning, zoning, and land use principles.
- Strong understanding of applicable state statutes and local ordinances.
- Excellent communication and public relations skills.
- Ability to interpret and explain zoning and land use regulations to the public.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and GIS software preferred.

Chair, Board of Selectmen or Town Administrator.
