The Town of Sunapee is seeking an experienced Highway Foreman to lead our highway crew in the year-round maintenance and construction of the Town's roads, drainage systems, bridges, and infrastructure.
This is a working supervisory position reporting to the Highway Director. The Foreman assigns and inspects the crew's daily work while operating heavy equipment and working alongside them
— planning and scheduling maintenance and construction projects, directing winter operations, tracking labor, equipment, and materials, and maintaining safe work zones. The Foreman also assists with hiring, performance reviews, and budget preparation, and covers for the Highway Director when authorized.
What we're looking for: a two-year construction management or civil technology degree, Master Road Scholar Certification, or three years of experience in site and utility construction management or as a construction supervisor. Solid working knowledge of paved and gravel road, drainage, sidewalk, and bridge maintenance, and proficiency operating and maintaining heavy equipment and commercial vehicles.
License: A valid Class B CDL with air brake endorsement and a current DOT medical card are required at hire. A Class A CDL and prior municipal supervisory experience are preferred but not required.
Compensation: Labor Grade 14, $31.89–$35.20 per hour, depending on qualifications. Full benefits, including New Hampshire Retirement System, health and dental insurance, and paid leave.
This position is subject to a pre-employment driving record check, physical, and drug screen, and drug and alcohol testing.
