Heavy Equipment Operator – Highway Department

The Town of Sunapee is looking for an experienced Heavy Equipment Operator to join a professional, supportive Highway Department team that takes pride in its work. From summer construction to winter storms, our crew shows up for residents and for one another.

What You’ll Do
- Operate equipment such as graders, backhoes, loaders, rollers, and plow trucks
- Improve and maintain roads, drainage, and town infrastructure
- Take part in snow and ice operations that keep the community safe
- Support teammates in day-to-day highway work
- Help care for equipment and maintain safe worksites
What Makes Someone Successful Here
- Experience running heavy equipment, especially graders
- Understanding of road and drainage work
- Dependability during storms and emergencies
- A safety-first mindset
- Respectful, team-focused attitude
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED
- Four or more years of related experience
- NH CDL Class B with air brake endorsement (Class A preferred)
This job involves outdoor work in all seasons and availability beyond normal hours when weather or emergencies demand it.
