Groundskeeper-Laborer, Parks Department
SUMMARY
The Town of Littleton, New Hampshire is currently in search of a full-time Groundskeeper. The Groundskeeper/ Laborer reports to the Parks Superintendent and or the Recreation and Cultural Arts Director. This position performs ground maintenance, equipment maintenance duties and is responsible for following project direction and the completion of those projects by directive. This is a full-time AFSCME Union position offering a complete benefit package.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
*Operate all equipment of the Parks Department. May operate highway equipment as needed. Services
equipment and makes minor field repairs and adjustments.
*Routine maintenance and construction activities related to parks fields operation. May assist with the activities
in the public works department as directed.
*Operate on an emergency and seasonal basis, trucks and equipment for winter snow removal and other
seasonal cleanup operations. Limited amount of time off will be approved during Summer Operations based
on seasonal needs.
*When not engaged in equipment operations, performing various semi-skilled tasks are essential to parks
operations such as mowing, raking, digging, maintaining buildings, basketball and tennis courts, pool
equipment, fencing, dugouts, benches, etc.
*Operate trucks in picking up and delivering materials, debris and supplies, services vehicles with gas, oil and
water; notifies town mechanic of any repair needs.
*Seasonal duties include snow plowing, making and maintaining the town skating rink. General maintenance
of all Parks buildings. Winterizes all unused Park buildings. Maintenance and operation of town swimming
pool. Mowing, seeding, and aeration of all Town owned fields. Maintains playground equipment.
QUALIFICATIONS
*Individuals must be able to perform each essential physical duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed above

*Knowledge of the functions, operating methods and care required of the equipment used in Park Department
projects. Knowledge of maintenance requirements for Parks equipment. Knowledge of work hazards, safety
practices and traffic laws relating to equipment operations. Skilled in the operation and care of turf and
construction equipment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
*At least one year’s experience in the operation and maintenance of park-related equipment. Any equivalent
combination of education and experience, which demonstrates possession of the required knowledge, skills
and abilities. A valid New Hampshire Driver’s License is required.
