The Town of Salem Fire Department is seeking highly motivated, service-oriented professionals to join our team as Firefighters. This position plays a critical role in protecting life, property, and the environment through fire suppression, emergency medical response, hazardous materials mitigation, and fire prevention activities
Job Description:
What You'll Do:
- Performs firefighting activities including driving apparatus, operating pumps, laying hose, and performing fire combat, containment, and extinguishment tasks
- Provides emergency medical care, including first aid and ambulance operations
- Participates in fire drills and ongoing training in firefighting, emergency medical services, hazardous materials, and related disciplines
- Operates radio and communications equipment; receives and relays fire calls and alarms
- Conducts inspections of buildings, hydrants, and other structures as part of fire prevention programs
- Maintains fire apparatus, equipment, and facilities; performs minor repairs and general station upkeep
- Conducts salvage operations and assists with debris removal during emergency incidents
- Presents public education programs on fire prevention, safety, and medical topics
- Assists in training new employees as assigned
- May voluntarily perform Dispatcher duties when necessary
- Performs other duties as assigned
Requirements:
- NH (or Pro-Board) Firefighter Level 1 (attain FF 2 within 1 year of appointment).
- National Registry EMT-B (Basic) Obtain A-EMT within one year of appointment).
- Valid CPAT Certificate (or comply with NHFSTEMS Rule Part 703 - Transfers).
- Possess a High School diploma or equivalent.
- A Valid Driver's License.
