Finance Assistant (Part-Time)

The Town of Hopkinton is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Finance Assistant to support the operations of the Finance Department. This part-time position assists with accounts payable, cash receipts, financial recordkeeping, and general administrative functions.
Position Details
- Status: Part-Time (8–10 hours per week)
- Pay Range: Grade 9 ($22.16 – $31.03/hour), depending on experience
- Department: Finance
- Location: Hopkinton, NH
Duties and Responsibilities
- Enters vendor invoices and assists with accounts payable processing
- Maintains accounts payable files and supporting documentation
- Enters and posts daily cash receipts
- Assists with financial recordkeeping, including ledgers and journals
- Supports general ledger data entry and reconciliation activities
- Assists with preparation for the annual financial audit
- Maintains organized electronic and paper filing systems
- Responds to internal requests for financial information
- Performs related clerical and administrative duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Experience with bookkeeping, accounts payable, or office administration preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Associate’s Degree in accounting, finance, or related field desirable but not required
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel and Word)
- Ability to learn municipal accounting software
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and accuracy
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and work independently
