The purpose of this position is to maintain all public works, light to heavy tools and equipment in a reliable and safe condition so as to be available for service according to approved standards. The work involves filling out and completing work orders, retrieving parts from vendors and the stock room, reviewing PM check lists, and utilizing proper techniques for lift operation, tire rotation, grease, inspections, and all other aspects of the equipment maintenance group. This includes performing routine maintenance for all equipment, maintaining tools and equipment in the most cost effective manner, recording all equipment maintenance and associated costs, using parts and supplies wisely and recommending maintenance and repair improvements to reduce overall operating costs. It also involves learning the proper operating and maintenance procedures for all City vehicles and equipment. Performance is subject to review according to the City's personnel plan through observation, reports, tests, and the results achieved.
