MECHANIC ASSISTANT/HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR
The Town of Hillsborough has an immediate opening for a full-time Mechanic Assistant/Heavy Equipment Operator.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, performing regularly scheduled maintenance on town vehicles and assist in overhauls and major repairs when necessary, operating equipment to construct, improve and maintain roads and drainage systems; helping grade and set up base for new street construction and municipal building sites; operating trucks to haul materials, plow snow, and clear ice from streets.
While performing the duties of this job, employees are frequently exposed to moving mechanical parts and outside weather conditions as well as excess heat and cold.
Applicants must have a clean driving record, be able to pass a criminal background check, and have a license to inspect vehicles. A valid NH heavy commercial operator’s license is desired, but we are willing to train the right individual.
This position is part of the Hillsborough Town Employees AFT Local #3912, AFT-NH, AFL-CIO Union with a current wage scale of $26.67 to $35.74 DOQ and a generous benefits package which includes Health Insurance, Retirement, paid holidays, paid vacation and sick time.
