Deputy Town Treasurer

The Deputy Treasurer assists the Treasurer in managing the Town Funds, including cash management, tax collection support, record keeping, and compliance with New Hampshire state laws. This position ensures accuracy, transparency, and accountability in all final transactions.

During any absence of the Town Treasurer, Deputy Treasurer will be responsible for acting as the Treasurer when required.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Complete timely deposits

2. Signature on checks, after approval by Board of Selectmen.

3. Work with the Town Administrator and Finance Department to ensure compliance with New Hampshire statutes, municipal policies, and internal controls.

4. Assist with annual audits.

5. Assist with necessitate month-end bank reconciliations of all Town bank accounts, and generation of monthly reporting to various departments as required.

NH RSA Section 41:29-a

41:29-a Deputy Treasurer. – Each town may have a deputy treasurer who shall be qualified in the same manner as the town treasurer and who shall perform all the duties of the town treasurer in case of the treasurer's absence by sickness, resignation, or otherwise. A deputy treasurer shall be appointed by the town treasurer with the approval of the board of selectmen.
