POSITION: Custodian – Buildings & Grounds
SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, 2:30 PM – 10:30 PM
HOURLY RATE: $19.94 to $20.77 per hour, plus $0.75 shift differential
DUTIES:
Custodians are responsible for semi-skilled and skilled tasks related to cleaning and maintenance of Town buildings and grounds. Tasks include cleaning offices and restrooms; washing floors and windows; basic plumbing, carpentry, mechanical and electrical work; light masonry work and repair of damaged surfaces. Custodians also maintain an inventory of supplies, monitor building security, participate in snow removal activities, and prepare buildings and grounds for opening each business day. Custodians are expected to be On-Call and respond to emergencies after normal working hours.
REQUIREMENTS:
Candidates for this position must have:
- A valid Driver’s License
- One year of custodial experience.
- Ability to work evenings and occasional overtime.
- Considerable knowledge of basic housekeeping practices in maintaining building cleanliness and good order; and the proper use and application techniques for cleaning products and equipment.
- Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships.
- Ability to perform repetitive cleaning tasks with minimal supervision.
