Town of Sunapee – Code Compliance Officer & Health Officer
The Town of Sunapee is seeking a professional, community-oriented individual to enforce zoning, land use, and public health regulations. This role is the primary point of contact for compliance issues and provides guidance to residents, property owners, businesses, and Town departments.

- Serve as the Town’s Health Officer, protecting public health in partnership with state agencies.
What you’ll do:
- Review applications, conduct inspections, and enforce zoning and land use ordinances.
- Investigate complaints and recommend corrective actions.
- Administer permits and oversee short-term rental compliance.
- Maintain records, draft ordinance updates, and provide enforcement reports.
What we’re looking for:
- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience in planning, public administration, construction, or a related field.
- Experience in zoning enforcement, land use planning, or municipal administration preferred.
- Knowledge of building codes, municipal regulations, and legal enforcement procedures.
- Strong communication, organization, and customer service skills.
- Valid driver’s license; NH Health Officer certification required (or obtainable upon appointment).
Work environment: Mix of office and field inspections in all weather; ability to lift up to 50 lbs and navigate uneven terrain.
Salary: $30–$35/hour, depending on experience
