We’re looking for a dynamic, detail-oriented Sign Maker to help keep our community moving safely and efficiently. This is your chance to transform everyday roads into clearly marked, well-regulated pathways that support thousands of people every day.
From crafting and installing regulatory and custom signage to maintaining traffic signals and supporting special events, your work will directly impact the safety and flow of City life. You’ll work outdoors, think on your feet, use a wide range of tools and technology—and never have two days that look the same. Specific job duties can be found in the job description below.
Note: This position is subject to recall and stand-by duty during non-regular working hours, weekends, and holidays. This position should be able to respond within 60 minutes, depending on weather conditions, to staff the work site. There is a considerable amount of overtime during winter months. In addition, this position is subject to federal commercial driver’s license (CDL) requirements for drug and alcohol.
Minimum qualifications:
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); plus one to three years’ related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education/experience. A valid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) is required. The International Municipal Signal Association (IMSA) Traffic Signal Technician I Certification is required within 18 months of hire and Level II is preferred.
Pay and Benefits:
During the 6-month probationary period, the pay rate for this position is $23.92 per hour. Upon successful completion of the probationary period, this position will move to the regular pay schedule which consists of pay steps and hourly rates ranging from $24.94- $29.74 per hour, depending on experience.
