Billing & Collections Associate

The Town of Wolfeboro is seeking applications for the position of Billing & Collections Associate.

This position provides clerical and administrative support to the Billing & Collections Department and is responsible for providing customer support directly to the residents of Wolfeboro, NH. This role also coordinates the collections function for the field; this role is required to perform all similar or related duties. 

EXAMPLES OF DUTIES

• Maintains customer accounts by performing duties such as processing information changes, adding and closing accounts, scheduling meter changes and readings, processing final bills, researching and resolving problems, assisting with payment plans. 

• Provides customer service at the service counter, via phone, mail, and/or on-line; provides general information, accepts utility and tax payments, addresses and/or research concerns or problems with bills, sells dump stickers receives and directs visitors or delivery 

people. Assist customers with set-up and administration of on-line accounts. 

• Processes customer payments received in person, by mail, or drop box picks up and distributing mail from the post office and processes payments. 

• Sets up, balances and locks up cash draw following all applicable policies and procedures. 

• Monitors customer accounts for delinquency and performs collection duties; maintains an organized and complete record of all payments and collection actions. Searches for new 

addresses on inactive customer accounts via internet, billing for any outstanding balance.

Minimum Qualifications:

High School Diploma; Associate's Degree preferred in accounting or related field desirable; and one to three (1 -3) years of customer service experience or similar, preferable in the public sector dealing with local government; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience. This is a union position that is 35 hours per week.
