Beach Assistant

OBJECTIVE: The Beach Assistant will collect entry fees, handle snack-shack stock and sales, oversee other snack-shack employees, and ensure clean and maintained bathrooms, trash receptacles, and the beach sand daily. 

ACCOUNTABILITY: The Beach Assistant will report directly to the Parks and Recreation Director. If the Director is unavailable, the Beach Assistant will report directly to the Town Administrator.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES: Under the leadership of the Parks and Recreation Director the Beach Assistant will

  • Cover hours at Snack Shack when not performing other duties. The Snack Shack collects entry fees and sells snacks and beverages for beach goers.
  • Purchase food and drink at the Snack Shack ensuring proper inventory.
  • Ensure clean and well-maintained and supplied bathrooms at both beaches.
  • Ensure all trash is secured before leaving for the day. No trash left out on the beach area.
  • Close both beach gates at night. 
  • Discuss any employee issues or inadequacies in coverage to Director for guidance.
  • Perform special assignments/projects as directed by the Parks & Recreation Director. The duties listed above are intended only as illustrations of the various types of work that may be performed. LICENSE/CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS: Valid NH Driver’s License, CPR

OTHER TRAINING, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS: Use of software for sales, collecting payment by credit card, and making change for cash payments. Opening and closing drawers, ensuring balanced drawers for all Snack Shack employees. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED: High School or equivalent plus two years’ experience with sales and balancing sales drawers. Must be over 18 years old. 

WORK SURFACES: Inside and outside surfaces. Equipment interiors and exteriors. Sandy beach and non-air-conditioned and air-conditioned interiors.

SUMMARY OF OCCUPATIONAL EXPOSURES: 

  • May be exposed to long periods of sunlight
  • May be exposed to poison ivy, oak, or sumac; and insects such as wasps, hornets, bees, ticks, etc.
