Assessing & Building Secretary, FT

POSITION:       Full-Time Assessing & Building Secretary

SCHEDULE:    35 hrs/week, Monday - Friday, 8:00-4:00

WAGES:          Labor Grade 6, range $22.24 - $32.25 (top of scale)
                        Starting pay commensurate with experience

DUTIES: 

This position provides customer service to the public seeking assistance with building permits, assessing, and general inquires at the Town Hall Land Use Office.

  • Responsible for building department administration, including the issuance of building permits, electrical, plumbing and gas permits. Coordinates activity of inspectors and handles correspondence. 
  • Assists the Assessor in a variety of technical and administrative support functions.
  • Provides information and assistance to property owners and others regarding the town’s assessment policies and procedures, tax abatements and exemptions.

REQUIREMENTS:        

  • Thorough knowledge of office procedures, computer programs and equipment, and bookkeeping.
  • Proficient skill in computers and software applications (Office365, Word, Outlook, Excel).
  • Aptitude for numbers and details. Excellent organizational and office management skills.
  • Proficient customer service skills.
