General Statement of Duties:

Plans, develops and directs career and education pathways for youth, supporting employability, career growth, college readiness and development of social capital throughout the City; performs directly related work as required.

Examples of Essential Work:

  • Provide leadership and oversight integrating career/college readiness preparation into all aspects of the department;
  • Coordinate career and post-secondary engagement events and activities;
  • Collaborate closely with local and state agencies and boards to acquire workforce data and statistics;
  • Development of an advisory board;
  • Conduct assessments, provide leadership, life skills and career/college readiness coaching to youth and adults;
  • Assist youth in identifying/addressing barriers to postsecondary education and employment;
  • Ensure successful performance outcomes related to postsecondary education outreach, placement assistance and serving local employers;
  • Analyze data and trends for evaluation and to identify new areas of opportunity;
  • Communicate closely with the program director to identify additional training tracks for the for youth and identify additional areas of growth;
  • Create and sustain partnerships with potential employers;
  • Plan and organize soft skills workshops for youth and adults;
  • Plan and organize post-secondary education (PSE) workshops for youth in the community
  • Coordinate comprehensive internship programs with local employers;
  • Conduct three, six and nine month follow-ups with youth who have received post- secondary and employment services;
  • Meets with at risk youth in various settings to explain applicable programs and services;
  • Provides information, short term counseling and needs assessment and makes referrals to appropriate services;
  • Maintain program records according to local, State and Federal guidelines;
  • Develop and maintain mechanisms for reporting data, progress and analytics; and more....

Acceptable Experience and Training:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master’s Degree in Counseling or a related field; and
  • Three years of experience in youth service programs, criminal justice, education or social services; or
  • Any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to perform the work.

Required Special Qualifications:

  • CPR/First Aid/Mental Health First Aid Certification (within 6 months of date of hire);
  • KNOW & TELL Certificate (within 6 months of date of hire);
  • Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment (SBIRT) Training (w/in 6 months of date of hire);
  • Valid New Hampshire Driver’s License.
